Greenhouses and farming in Nivalis Nights

Farming in Nivalis Nights happens indoors, in high-tech greenhouses you rent. With enough money you can run more than one, growing mushrooms, grains and vegetables, and even printing meat.

Where the greenhouses are

You can “rent a greenhouse in the industrial district to grow your own crops”. There are several greenhouses spread across different areas of the map, so the industrial district is a place to start rather than the only one. A fast train links the industrial district to the pier at Seaside Boardwalk; the districts page has both.

Setting one up

  1. Rent it. Rent prices are not known yet.
  2. Plan the floor. The space inside is yours to arrange and decorate as you see fit.
  3. Buy the machines. Specialized machinery comes from different vendors around the city, each vendor catering to one purpose.
  4. Get seeds. Crops grow only “if you acquire the necessary seeds”. The vendor screen the studio has shown has a Seeds tab next to Ingredients and Furniture.
  5. Tune the console. A farming console sets temperature, humidity and light, “factors that directly influence the growth speed of your crops”.
  6. Automate. Some processes, irrigation among them, can run on their own.

Over time, and with the right skills, you can acquire more seeds and unlock advanced modules. The ingredient panel on the vendor screen lists “Farming Modules” for each item. How those relate to the greenhouse modules is not known yet.

Running a restaurant gets demanding, and your own crops help protect your margins. Once your venue reaches level 3, a hired Manager can collect greenhouse goods and put them to use for you; the businesses page has the rest of what a Manager does. Greenhouses also have their own inventory, next to your personal bag, your kitchens and your homes.
