Nivalis Nights age rating

Steam shows two official ratings for Nivalis Nights: USK 12 in Germany, flagged for drugs and crude language, and DEJUS 14 in Brazil, flagged for inappropriate language and illicit drugs. The Steam page lists no ESRB or PEGI rating, and neither company has announced one.

The two ratings on the store page

A USK 12 rating means the game is cleared for players aged 12 and up in Germany; DEJUS 14 is Brazil’s advisory for ages 14 and up. The two boards agree on what stands out: drugs and strong language. Neither label mentions violence or sexual content. The studio has not said what the drug content is, whether it is something you see, something characters talk about, or goods you can trade.

The other major boards do not appear on the Steam page, and neither ION LANDS nor 505 Games has announced a rating from them.

The themes behind the labels

The store description sets the game in a district “pushed to the brink by CorpSec crackdowns and a mysterious serial killer”, and invites you to try “illegally sabotaging your rivals under the cover of curfew”.

Press coverage of the game’s PC Gaming Show presentation, before the rename, described a similar city, where “Gangs want to harvest your organs, corporations want to bleed you dry”. None of it tells you how graphic the finished game is.

For parents, in short. It is a single-player game with no online play (see multiplayer), seen in first person. Romance with some characters is part of it, and the studio has not described how romantic scenes are shown; the romance page has more.
